C is for cookie and cookie is the theme! Another fun cake and cupcake assortment. When I was asked to make a cookie monster cake I was originally asked to make a sheet cake. Well a long time ago I decide to be a cupcakery so I specialize in cupcakes and mini cakes. When most people hear cupcakes and mini cakes they are concerned about it being as grand as they are hoping for and if it will feed everyone. Well I assure you with a little creativity you will be surprised just what kind of a bang you can get from mini cakes.
This cake is made from 6" cake rounds. I cut a small piece off one side to give them a flat edge and placed them down on that leveled side. A 6" half dome was placed on the back and a 4" dome on top. The hands are made from the cut pieces of cake.
I frosted the "cookie" front in brown butter buttercream, added milk chocolate chips. I did a light coating of blue buttercream and piped the "fur". The eyes are made from cake scraps and fondant.
This cake was for a first birthday party so a smash cake decorated with chocolate oat cookies and buttercream accompanied the larger cake as well as mini cupcakes topped with chocolate chip cookies.
Living on a shoestring and making the most of the lemons
Life is not easy, we all know this by now, but life is what you make it, no matter how corny that sounds (rhymes and all). Some days you can't wait for them to just be over and others, why can't they last longer. So let's make the most of it, make the shoe string budget as long as you can and make the best darn lemonade you've ever had!
