Alright so now I had my concept but how was I going to pull this off and deliver it an hour away?!? I knew I needed enough cake to feed 20-25 people and that it had to be easy to serve. Fail-safe, pull-apart cupcakes. They can make an entrance, keep cost reasonable, they travel well and are so simple to serve a group. after some research, a lot of brainstorming, and several hours of work, a star was born! I think it came out great!
To make this I took 24 confetti cupcakes and put them on a board in a rectangle and I topped them with vanilla buttercream. I hand cut black and white fondant to make the tile floor. While that was all setting in the fridge I started working on the tub and unicorn.
e To make the tub I baked confetti cake in a loaf pan and trimmed it down to get the bath tub shape. I then coated it lightly in buttercream and covered it with white fondant. I made a rolled fondant boarder around the top to give a bit more depth. I made the shower head and water controls from sugar paste, and painted them with edible gold dust. I cut rice crispy treats and covered them with fondant and edible gold dust for the feet of the tub. Tucked under the tub is a bit of rice crispy squares to help support the tub and keep it elevated off the "floor". I hand sculpted the unicorn from fondant and sugar paste. After placing the unicorn where I wanted her I filled the tub with blue buttercream. I topped it off with sugar pearls, chocolate pearls, bubble gumballs, sprinkles, wafer paper stars, glitter and edible gelatin bubbles. The unicorn duck is also handmade from fondant. I used fondant cutters for the letters and finished it all off with edible wafer stars and edible gold dust. The birthday girl was ecstatic! and I had a blast making this!
